A big thank you to Socialinsider for including me on their list of Newsletters you *HAVE TO* subscribe to. There are some big names on there from the social and content world, and it’s an honor to be listed among them.
And THANK YOU to YOU, the person who subscribes and reads this newsletter. Keeping a weekly newsletter going for 4 ½ years takes work, but I love it.
I do this because I love how social media connects people and ideas; I believe in the power of those who want to make a difference by sharing what they know; and I’m passionate about guiding others to show up with more clarity, confidence, and purpose.
Here’s a screenshot from my newsletter platform from that very first edition, sent on Nov. 1, 2020. I’m still grateful for those first 43 subscribers and just as thankful today to keep writing to you each week.

GOOGLE: I did not see this coming. Who knows how this actually might play out, but this came out of left field.
INSTAGRAM: Very important! I see these rules broken regularly and while a lot of accounts will get away with it, you don’t want to be the one slapped with a lawsuit.
INSTAGRAM: 11 styles of captions.

LINKEDIN: Not only is there a new video tab, there’s now multiple video feeds within that tab. I think LinkedIn is being very cautious about how they’re incorporating video into the regular feed that we’ve all grown accustomed to over the years. On one hand, they could rip the band-aid off and make practically every post we see a vertical video as featured in their video tab, but they know that would turn off too many users and publishers and this is their way of testing and mixing it in at a pace that gives them enough data.

LINKEDIN: I think we’ll see even more big celebrity names get active on LinkedIn (or their team will logged into their account) to grow a following to be on the receiving end of these brand deals that will continue to be a big money maker for personal LinkedIn accounts.
LINKEDIN: “We’re doubling down on making sure our platform is THE HUB for professional storytelling.”
LINKEDIN: A little off topic, but I love that you can now embed video into LinkedIn articles and newsletters.

THREADS: Interesting. I don’t think I’ve seen this stated before. Now I’m curious how you rank for conversations. I’m assuming it’s based on a function of how many replies a post gets in a certain time period.
