We’re back from the best beach week at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. We rode bikes on the sand, saw wildlife and sea creatures galore, got lightly stung by a couple of jellyfish, ate at yummy restaurants, regularly visited the General Market for soft-serve ice cream treats, and just missed Tropical Storm Debby by a week.

Summer is my absolute favorite time of the year – July especially. Having a birthday on Christmas in July solidified that for me from the beginning.

We’re soaking up these last hot, humid weeks with the girls before school starts. Next up, teacher assignments and backpack shopping. I hope you have lots of fun memories from this summer to look back on as well!

THE SCOOP

Join me in person for my next SkillPop class: Level Up Your LinkedIn!

INSTAGRAM: A big change to IG’s metrics. Adam Mosseri shares more here.

INSTAGRAM: A good refresher. I wonder if IG has seen a dip in Live use and that’s why they’re putting out this content. There’s always a motive behind a message.

INSTAGRAM: The Facebook page login requirement is being removed!

INSTAGRAM: Very excited about this update.

LINKEDIN: Company page verification is rolling out now too.

LINKEDIN: There are 184,000 newsletters on the platform, per LinkedIn.

LINKEDIN: It takes time to feel confident and comfortable posting from your personal profiles, especially on LinkedIn. Be patient with yourself, but keep doing it.

LINKEDIN: The power in building your own executive brand, or helping your executives build theirs, impacts your organization as a whole in the best ways. I’ve helped teams and individuals with this work and am blown away by the results every time. Send me a message if you’re ready for an executive social media strategy.

LINKEDIN: Overall, weekdays still win out, but there’s an argument for scheduling content on LinkedIn on weekends as well.

LINKEDIN: I’ve pitched multiple stories to the LinkedIn News team, and a few of them successfully.

META: Goodbye celebrities, hello to your own personal AI characters.

META: Zuckerberg predicts that Llama usage will surpass ChatGPT this year.

PINTEREST/TIKTOK: Significant social shopping news.

REDDIT: I find myself on Reddit more and more too.

SOCIAL MEDIA: “…54% of people in the U.S. ages 18 to 60 would quit their jobs if they could make a living as a full-time content creator.” What a stat. Are you in the 54%?

SOCIAL MEDIA: Such a mic-drop(out?) moment for the argument of the power of social media platforms and owning your own news as a whole. What I would have done to be in the room to decide where the announcement was going to be posted, how, and in what order. One of my favorite proverbial rooms to be in.

SOCIAL MEDIA: I’m sharing this article solely because of this quote: “Our executives have an incredible voice on LinkedIn — and that [platform] presents a real opportunity for us to really tell our story to clients as well as potential employees.”

SOCIAL MEDIA: 31% of those who run social media channels for a brand are uncertain about their strategy and you’re probably overwhelmed. I didn’t need the stats and the charts in this Stacked Marketer article to tell me that because I hear it from people almost every day. Please reach out if you need help with your social media strategy. This is what I do for brands.

TIKTOK: A big fan of this feature on every platform that has it.

THREADS: Big growth momentum for the platform.
