Body Language Boss Mode

My mom always reminded us to hold our shoulders back growing up. Heck, I even heard her say it to one of my brothers when we were all together a few weeks ago.

I admittedly don’t always as I find myself hunched over my computer often, but where I am always propped up – shoulders back, chin up – is walking into a “new room.”

You know those new rooms. The ones where you’re not completely sure of yourself.

The ones where there’s angst, an unknown, your reputation on the line.

The ones where you might be walking in to present, speak on stage, meet a new client, network, or be interviewed and there’s a chance you could absolutely blow it, or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself.

NOTHING communicates confidence before you even open your mouth like walking in on body language boss mode looking everyone in the eye.

SHOULDERS BACK, CHIN UP, LADIES. Nothing less. We’re communicating to others and to ourselves that we belong and that we’re confident.

“How to instantly look more confident.” Watch this clip from a Mel Robbins podcast episode with a body language expert. It’s wildly eye-opening and makes SO MUCH SENSE.

FACEBOOK: They’re betting on young adults being the next generation on their platform. Will it work or not is the question.

INSTAGRAM: They continue to expand this feature. While I like it, it’s puzzling how much effort they’re putting into it. I guess IG is betting on Notes becoming a bigger and bigger thing.

INSTAGRAM: Why the 90-second mark is key.

LINKEDIN: I included this in my newsletter last week, but it’s worth another mention. If you rely on links for many of your LinkedIn posts, you might want to consider using an image to represent that content instead and still include the link in the post copy. That won’t always make sense as an alternative, but just know that LI is not publisher-friendly when it comes to posting web links.

PINTEREST: “The program will support small businesses, independent publishers and boutique creator agencies that are owned and operated by those from historically marginalized communities.”

SOCIAL MEDIA: Reputation-wise, social media companies aren’t doing too well, especially X. P.S Go Nvidia.

THREADS: As someone who lived in TweetDeck, especially when I was in a newsroom, this is a beautiful sight.

TIKTOK: This has been fast-tracked.

X: Elon agrees to testify.

YOUTUBE: A way to keep more people on the app.
